May 23, 2008, Newsletter Issue #94: Considerations Before Applying to RN School

Tip of the Week

Once you've decided to attend RN school, there are a few things to consider before beginning your course of program. Here are some common questions to ask yourself:

• What kind of degree do you want? Do you want a BSN, or an associate's degree in nursing (ADN), or other nursing certificate?

• Where do you want to study? Do you want to study on-campus, or at home? You need to decide between a traditional RN school and an online RN school.

• How much do you want to spend? Check the tuition of all the schools you're considering and decide which one fits in your budget.

• How much time do you have? Do you need to earn your license now, or do you have four years to devote to a bachelor's degree? If time is of the essence, consider an associate's degree or a LPN/LVN course of study.
